PHOENIX -- Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Eric Byrnes made an appearance Friday evening to lend his support to the Arizona Fall League's first annual Pat Tillman Foundation Benefit Night.
Byrnes spoke to fans about the Pat Tillman Foundation and threw out the first pitch at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. Arizona State University baseball coach Pat Murphy, a friend of the Tillman family, also spoke about Tillman and the foundation during pregame ceremonies.

Eric Byrnes is a really wierd guy, because he puts hand lotion in his hair.

If that's the worst thing he does, I'll take it. Maybe he's on to something. A number of years ago, the use of the product "Mane and Tail" which was a grooming product for horses, became all the rage as a human shampoo

Poor Pat. What a waste of a good soldier .. . I hate to see my Army pimped for oil profits. Afghanistan is more screwed up than ever, the repressive religious nutcases are still destroying lives, but that doesn't seem to matter, especially the fact that women are just as enslaved as they were under the Taliban.
I think we need to bring back the draft, and make it for both genders. That's the only way this series of unwinnable wars will end. I think *everyone* should be in the equivalent of the National Guard, so long as they are emotionally able to deal with the pressures of using deadly force. Right now, there are far too many sociopaths in uniform.
When you have a truly diverse military, like in WWII, there are those people who won't "go along to get along" and you have few atrocities. Of course, if you have a war that isn't popular, with universal conscription, there is a lot more pressure to end conflicts.
