Blood Clot Slows Tracy's Rehab
Infielder feeling better after post-surgery complications

Tracy, who had microfracture surgery on his right knee on Sept. 20,
experienced a blood clot in the calf area last week. He is currently
taking blood thinners to help alleviate the problem and will stay away
from working with the leg for a week or so.

I wonder if this news makes re-signing Tony Clark a bigger priority now? I heard that Clark's agent says the Dodgers have shown some interest. That Clark would be interested in THEM seems a little far-fetched to me. He would basically be in the same situation in LA as he is here: playing behind a young player (Loney). It doesn't seem like the Dodgers could offer him any more bats than Arizona, and he supposedly wants to stay plus he has a home here.

I agree with Steve Gilbert that Clark is not likely to make a lateral move. His home is in Arizona and, judging by the playoff blog, he's a family guy. And if you've seen The Eric Byrnes Show, you know his side business with high-end cars and boats is in AZ, too. Someone is going to have to offer him 400+ ABs and with Loney at first, he's not going to find that in LA.

I don't think Clark should rightfully expect to play all that much wherever he ends up. The D'Backs have a bit of a glut of third basemen/first basemen with Tracy, Mark Reynolds and Conor Jackson. At this point in his career, Clark's a 250-300 at bat guy at most who's a good guy in the clubhouse; if they try to rely on him any more than that, he's a great candidate to end up on the DL with his back problems. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if he went somewhere like San Francisco where he'd get more at bats and a chance to play more often because their offense is horrendously bad and they need a first baseman.
