Good Luck, Diamondbacks!
The Arizona Diamondbacks begin their quest for the NL pennant and a place in the World Series today. They face Colorado at Chase Field. Brandon Webb takes on Jeff Francis in a battle of aces.
Dance with who brung ya, D'Backs: pitching, defense and the understanding that Anybody Anytime can deliver at the plate.
And have fun. No one, including me, expected you to be here this year. The greatest pleasure is in doing things others say you cannot do.
Go, Diamondbacks!

P.S. Byrnesie, remember May and June and the first week of September!

That's one of the best things about baseball--you can't predict what the end of the year will be like. Teams that looked great at the beginning fade in the stretch, and since each team in October has changed a great deal over the season, and because you can't predict or control group behaviour, anything can happen.
That's why I dislike those stats queens--a player is not an android, he's a human being, and you can't control for emotions. You can't control what individuals in a group that size will do, but we do know that "team spirit" is a huge factor.
That's why I don't want A Rod in the Giants--the dude is a huge talent, BUT I DON'T WANT ANY MORE DRAMA QUEENS IN SF. We have more then enough already.

Two evenly matched teams that hold no secrets from each other. Whoever executes best will win.

Yes, the trashtossing was disgusting--but what can you expect when you have so many fair weather fans, only there because the D'backs are in the playoffs--where were they earlier in the season? It's one of the prices of success, you end up with a pack of boorish twatwaffles in the stands, who feel they are OWED a victory.
Kinda like all those booBarries who would complain if he didn't play ("Hey!@ I paid for a ticket at scalper prices TO SEE BARRY HIT A HOME RUN! HE MUST PLAY FOR ME!")and would talk smack to him if he was playing . .. like the Dodger fans who all had their pics taken in LF with BARRY in the background, not the Dodger LFer.
It's a really good thing that the D'backs shed their skins and got new colors, the very idea of two teams both in purple annoys me. Purple is just not a baseball color.
You know, for a long time, the NLW was considered the weakest division, now we've got some of the best teams in the majors.
