Congratulations, St. Louis Cardinals!

You’ve won the 2006 World Series in 5 games. The final score tonight was 4-2.

David Ekstein was named Series MVP. Jeff Weaver was the winning pitcher.

I was at an informal FCC hearing in downtown Oakland, so I missed most of the game. It was 2-1 Tigers when I left work to go to the hearing. But now I read that Justin Verlander, the Tigers starter made an error in the fourth that cost the team two runs.

Jim Leyland had better make pitchers’ fielding a top priority for hurlers in Spring Training. But that’s a long ways away from now. It is now officially Hot Stove Season.

Again, congrats, St. Louis Cardinals!

I’d heard FCC hearings were stuffy, formal affairs – blue serge for the men, smart skirt suits for the ladies.

Sure you weren’t at a KFC hearing?

Sure you weren’t at a KFC hearing?

Yes, very sure.

It was an informal hearing because only two of the 5 commissioners were present, so it wasn’t really official. and by the time I got to speak, KPFA had gone away and one of the commissioners had absented himself for a time.

Definitely informal..neither were wearing their jackets.

I was happy for Jeff Weaver. I used to pick on that poor boy when he was a Dodger, and he’d cringe when he saw me. Now, I like tall thin blonds, so I’ll try to make it up to him . .. first he got dumped by the Dodgers, can there be anything worse? The Angels dumped him once they hired his kid brother, and then he dangled in minor league limbo, picked up by the Cards, and then pitched the game of his life to win.

I’ll bet he’ll be insufferable to his bro Jared during the upcoming holidays.
