Another Category Crunched!
Eric Byrnes, leading off, singled his first time up against Jon Leiber in the Phillies game tonight. That is finally Total Base No. 157, which exceeds the 156 he had in A,A’05.
Unfortunately, he did not score. Conor Jackson, batting 2nd, hit into a DP.
So Byrnesie still needs 2 more R’s to surpass last year’s totals. I would really like to see him do that tonight. He has not been driven in the last 5 times he has been on base. Is he going to have to homer, or can his teammates start driving him in? (Not that I ever object to Byrnes homers; he could use some XBHs right now. I just don’t want him to have to depend on homers to score runs!)
Brandon Webb starts tonight.
